The Glasgow Science Mall


The Glasgow Science Centre consists of 3 buildings the Science Mall, IMAX ® theatre and the Glasgow Tower . The centre was opened by HM the Queen and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh on the 5 th of July 2001 .

The Science Mall is at the heart of the GSC and has three floors packed with over 300 hands on exhibits, interactive workshops and live science shows in over 5000m of space. The Science Mall also contains a Planetarium, two theatres, laboratory, café, shop, offices and workshops
The Science Centre is a great place to visit especially with children and offers a full day out.

Quick Facts.

  • Opened in 2001 by HM the Queen
  • The project costs £75 million
  • Every piece of glass used was individually sized
  • Because of the shape of the building rubber ladders were used to fit the metal strips
  • Sits on a site of 6.7 acres
  • Designed by Building Design Partnership
  • The Science Mall and the IMAX theatre are the first buildings in the UK to be clad in titanium.
