The Glasgow Tower
Located
at the Glasgow Science Centre and the Glasgow IMAX theatre, the Glasgow
Tower is the world's first tower capable of revolving through 360° from
the ground up. Standing at over 122m (400 feet) in height. Unfortunately
the 10 million pound tower only opened for a short period of time due
to problems with the lifts and other faults. The row continues and nothing
has been done as no on will accept the blame and the bill to fix the
problems. The tower is currently the tallest building in Scotland (Edinburgh's
Leith docks plan to beat the Glasgow Tower with a two 35-storey tower
project)

UPDATED INFORMATION
In April 2004 final tests on the alterations made to the bearings have been
completed and after further checks the Tower will be open to the public from
Thursday 26th of August 2004. If you are planning to visit the Glasgow Tower
it would be a good idea to phone first to make sure the tower will be open.
There have been some technical problems since the tower re-opend and the
tower has been closed. The tower may also be closed during periods of high
wind.
