The Glasgow Millennium Hotel (formerly the Glasgow Copthorne Hotel) occupies one of the most central positions in Glasgow’s famous George Square. Its locations is great for access to the nearby shops in the Buchanan Galleries which has over eighty shops and parking for over two thousand cars. There are also the shops on Buchanan Street itself and at the top of Buchanan Street is the famous Sauchiehall Street with yet more shops. At the bottom of Queen Street about a five minute walk away from the Millennium Hotel is the St Enoch Shopping centre. A few minutes walk away if you head in the direction towards the City Chambers is the Italian Centre which has a number of designer shops
On George Square is the Glasgow City Chambers building as well as numerous statues. During the year Glasgow hosts many festivals and events and a number of these take place in George Square itself including the Hogmany celebrations for thousands of partygoers with live music and fireworks. Other George Square based events include the start of the great Scottish run, Glasgow on Ice, Jazz Festival, Whiskey live and many more. If you are planning on staying in the Millennium hotel it would be a good idea to check and see if there are any special events on during your stay. Nearby is the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) which, like all other Glasgow museums offers free entry. A great way to see the attractions of Glasgow is on the top of an open top bus and these leave from George Square. The Tourist Information centre is located opposite the hotel on the other side of George Square.
If you are travelling from Edinburgh by train, Queen Street station is located next to the hotel and Central station is only a ten to fifteen minute walk away. The hotel itself has standard and club rooms and suites all of which have satellite TV, internet access, trouser press, mini personal safes, an iron and tea and coffee making facilities.
