Glasgow Science MallThe Glasgow Science Centre is a science and technology museum, located on the banks of the River Clyde just across from the Crowne Plaza Hotel and is the first building in the UK to be clad in titanium. The Science Mall (opened in 2001) is the main part of the Science Centre which includes the Planetarium, the IMAX and the Glasgow Tower are all part of the overall Science Centre. The Science Mall is a great place to take the kids and is also interesting for adults as well. The emphasis is on learning with lots of hands on exhibits and free workshops and demonstrations that run throughout the day. The Science Mall has three floors in which to explore which will easily fill a good part of the day. You can also combine your visit to the Science Mall with a trip up the Glasgow Tower and a film in the Glasgow IMAX theatre and enjoy the film on a massive screen. You can get refreshments in the Science Mall in the cafeteria or coffee in the cafe, there is a shop on the ground floor that sells interesting and educational books and toys. If you are visiting Glasgow the Science Centre is a great place to visit and ideal if the weather is not so good outside. If you are in Glasgow check the weather forecasts and keep the Science Centre for a day the weather is not so good, however regardless of the weather the Science Centre is still worth a visit. The science Centre is ideal for families and you can easily spend a whole day here

Top TipsGlasgow Science Mall TOP TIPS

  • When you arrive you should be given a list of that days workshops, if you are interested in any of them go and register your children’s names immediately as they may be full for the day within the first few hours.
  • When you buy your ticket add on the Planetarium it’s only a small extra and is well worth it, again add-on IMAX or Tower options at this point it’s cheaper.
  • If you want a coffee get it from the cafe at the entrance not from the cafeteria as the coffee is not nice there!
  • Check online if you can and find out what shows and demonstrations are on the day you want to visit.
  • Plan your day around any workshops or demonstrations you want to see
