Some of the top names in folk and world music are in Glasgow for the fifteenth Celtic Connections Festival .The festival showcases the best of the new Scottish based talent and gives them the opportunity to perform. Held around the city at fourteen different venues. The festival runs from Wednesday the 16th Januray until Sunday the 3rd of February 2008.
Following on from the success of the Glasgow Film Festival in 2007 the festival returns again in 2008. This years festival is a salute Bette Davis, marking the centenary of her birth. The festival runs from the 14th - 21st of February 2008 and the full program will be revealled in January listing all the films and events.
Now in its sixth year the Glasgoe International comedy festival is the largest of its kind in Europe. The festival lasts for eighteen days from the 6th - 23rd of March. Some of the comedians confirmed already include Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle, Omid Djalili and comedy stars French and Saunders. There is also a full program for kids still to be announced. The festival uses venues accross the city, full deatils still to be announced.
The Glasgow Art Fair returns again for the 13th Art Fair which is now one of the most prestigious contemporary art fairs in the UK. Building on its success in 2007 attracting over 16,000 collectors, buyers and art enthusiasts. This years Art Festival runs from 27th - 30th of March. The event takes place in the centre of Glasgow in George Square. The Art on display is priced for all tastes and budgets.
